Some Encouragement

Last night rather than stayin home alone and doin homework, I went over to election celebration at GBS to watch the election results come in. At first it was exciting, because Mccain got some states, but then.. well yaal know what happened. I left around 10 because i had 7 am clinicals today. I shouldn't have been surprised about who won, but I was trusting God and had prayed for a LONG time about this election and our country in general. Nevertheless, the worse happened. This week seems to be EVERYTHING, the election, 2 tests, a paper due, my parents out of town on a mini vacation, so needless to say i'm just a little stressed. So, i got home from clinicals today and i was just SOO depressed and discouraged and upset about the election. I knew i would get nothing done if i stayed like that so i did what i normally when i feel like that, got my Bible out. Psalms and Proverbs are 2 of my favorite books. I just started reading through the passages I have underlined in Psalms, and started typing up the verses that were most encouraging to me, I printed them out and am going to hang on my fridge, alongside the 10 predictions no matter who gets in office, from Sis Eisenhart's blog. Yeah the next 4 years seem like it's taking forever, and they haven't really started yet, but GOD IS IN CONTROL NOT MAN!!! I thought I would share these verses with yaal so hopefully they will encourage you to. If some of the verses are slightly out of context, sorry, it's KJV, and some things actually mean different things than i think they do. Oh well, here they are, By the way i didn't even go all the way through Psalms, just a little but got a lOT of verses. Oh and don't forget to pray for America, Pres. Bush, Obama, and for revival in America!

I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Ps. 16:8

He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. Ps. 18:17

Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. Ps 22:11

All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the Lord: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee. Ps 22:27

O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Ps 25:2

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me: he shall set me up upon a rock. Ps 27:3, 5

The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. The face of the Lord is against them that do evil, to cut off remembrance of them from the earth. Ps 34: 15-16

And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him. Ps 37:40

Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we treat them under that rise up against us. For I will trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us. Ps. 44:5-7

God is our refuge and strength a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea.
Ps 46:1-2

Be still and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. Ps. 46:10

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust: I WILL NOT FEAR WHAT FLESH CAN DO UNTO ME. Ps 56:3-4

Great Scriptures, Ruth! I really appreciate your kind, steady, gentle, Christ-like spirit! I have watched how you are "pushed" around a little by others & I get very aggravated, but I have been impressed that you don't let it bother you (or at least don't let it show ;-). The shallow person is the one that thinks their needs are more important than the other person. Thank-you for not lowering yourself to others level. You may wonder where this is coming from :-), but I have always been upset when stronger personalities "PUSH around" quieter, gentler ones. Pardon my ranting. :-) Have a Great Week!
